Part of the Protection Series
Do you wear sunblock? Is it a habit of yours to do this when you walk out on a sunny day? Do you wear a hat? And if I asked you why do you do this, the answer will be something along the lines of “to protect my skin”.
What could be any different by adding “Protection” to your spiritual self?
To protect yourself is smart. Especially for those of you who are sensitive to outside forces or influences. For those energies we may not always see with the physical eye but can sense in different ways. Empaths, healers, psychics, those working with many people, to name a few who will know what I mean. When you are a person who is sensitive to those outside energies or environments that may be toxic, you need to protect yourself.
The starting is easy towards protecting your spiritual self, and done continuously, becomes a healthy habit. Today I will explore two of what I find important in building up protection and formulating a routine.

CLEANSING YOURSELF
Bathing is powerful to begin your journey in protecting yourself. The cleansing ritual, if you like, is not only of your physical self to make you feel refreshed, take away aches and pains; it is the cleansing that goes that bit deeper in clearing chakras, auras and etheric bodies, which are all connected.
If you are using loads of chemicals in shampooing, bathing, lotions and cremes, then you should know, this will affect not only your skin, but your whole being. You will have build-ups and, of course, clogging in and around you. It makes you susceptible to outside influences and weakens your person.
If you see that something has a name on a bottle that is a wheelbarrow of letters and numbers, then chances are, it is a chemical. Including Sodium Bicarbonate and Epsom Salts. These are chemical compounds that I would use more so as cleaning products for the home, than on the body. Natural is best and always will be.
BATHS
Who cannot resist a bath that is luxurious and warm? Can you see yourself soaking in fragrant oils, have candles burning dimly, listening to music? Any type of bathing can be spiritual. The releasing of pent up energy and emotions, and invoking the light of the Universe within you. Water cleanses and refreshes. Yet to cleanse and align chakras and outer bodies, you may need to do a little more and this bath is to be done once a week, no more.
I add a cup of apple cider vinegar to the water, sometimes a cup of chamomile tea for my chakras and outer bodies, with a good handful of sea salt for aches and pains and circulation. This all help’s to detox the largest organ of your body…Your Skin. I also like to do once a week a salt scrub even in my hair and scalp.
If I don’t feel or I am lacking in products, I will substitute a cup of organic milk powder be it cow or goat. If you cannot get the powder, then use the real milk and pour in. Milk leaves your skin soft, silky and cleanses. Throw in a few herbs of your choice like lavender, rosemary, rose, geranium, basil or lemon verbena. It’s a luxurious bath.
Essential Oils
- Lavender
- Rosemary
- Sage
- Eucalyptus
- Clary Sage
- Geranium
These are my favourites oils. Each oil has numerous other capabilities as well as protection quality. When using essential oils, please don’t overdo it as a little goes a long way. Always test the oil on yourself before using it.
Carrier Oils
- Jojoba
- Olive Oil
- Coconut
- Avocado
- Sweet Almond
- Rosehip
After Baths or Showers, I like to use a carrier oil that are cold pressed, to moisturise. And in doing so, I am imagining light filling me up and through me. I use oils for all my moisturising, including my face and even in my hair once a month. Remember, test on your skin and a little goes a long way!
SHOWERS
As I have mentioned, using a salt scrub before bathing is beneficial for circulation and cleansing the outer bodies. I add to my salt scrub the oils and or the apple cider vinegar. This may not be as extravagant as laying in a bath and soaking, but you can make any situation nice and relaxing.
Showering and letting the water flow over you still does the job. A hemp bag or even a stocking filled with a mixture of salts, oils, oats, hung over your shower head can do wonders as well or used as your scrub while in the shower. Bit fiddly but can be done and can be used twice and then the contents can be placed in garden or compost.
Imagining the water as white light infusing into you and washing away all the gunk and anything attached to you is the major part of when you do this type of cleansing. If you have done Reiki, you can charge up the water with that energy to give you healing as you cleanse. Use a good scrub on your skin with a brush (especially on your back where your partner gives you that slack quick rub when itchy or achy) is dreamy.
There is nothing like using bathing as a way to truly cleanse.
